Some people reported that gnome tweak tool claims that extension file is invalid after install - please ignore this and reload shell after install - than everything should be OK.

Prerequisites

  • You shold have correctly configured gmail in gnome online accounts config
  • Gnome >= 3.2
  • on Ubuntu, Mint and Debian flavours
    • gir1.2-goa.typelib (sudo apt-get install gir1.2-goa)
    • gir1.2-gconf.typelib (sudo apt-get install gir1.2-gconf)
  • on Fedora 16+ and OpenSuse 12+ should work without any special steps

Installing steps:

  1. Choose one of following methods to get extension
  2. install

  3. Reload gnome shell

Deinstallation:

  1. If installed from zip (gnome tweak tool,extensions.gnome.org) - simply remove:
    "rm -r home/your_userid/.local/share/gnome-shell/extensions/This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it."
    folder and reload shell
  2. for other cases use specific package remove method

Method 1:(Preferred) Use Gnome Tweak Tool

  • Download zip file
  • run gnome-tweak-tool
  • select extensions - install - select downloaded zip file
  • ignore "invalid extension" message
  • reload shell
  • check if extension is enabled in gnome tweak tool
